
Kris Holden-Ried is a Canadian actor with an extensive résumé spanning film, television, and international co-productions. He trained with Uta Hagen’s Master Class Scene Study and Janine Manatis of The Actor’s Studio before establishing himself in leading and supporting roles across North America and Europe.
He is best known for his fan-favorite performance as the shape-shifting Fae detective Dyson on Showcase’s hit series Lost Girl, and for portraying Sir William Compton on the acclaimed historical drama The Tudors. His television work also includes major roles in Ben Hur (BBC/CBC/ABC), Departure, The Umbrella Academy, Street Time, and Hendrix, in which he portrayed bassist Noel Redding.
Holden-Ried’s film credits include lead roles in A Touch of Pink, A Stone’s Throw, and Niagara Motel, as well as supporting performances in Gossip, K-19: The Widow Maker, Underworld: Awakening, Emotional Arithmetic, and Never Forget. He portrayed hockey legend Wayne Gretzky in Waking Up Wally: The Walter Gretzky Story and has worked alongside actors such as Kate Beckinsale, Susan Sarandon, Gabriel Byrne, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Tom Sizemore.
In addition to his acting career, Holden-Ried is an accomplished athlete. A World Cup equestrian, fencer, and swimmer, he earned a place on the Canadian National Pentathlon Team and won Silver Medals at both the Pan-American and Pan-Pacific Championships.
